Prototype introduction

We started to develop the prototype in March 1999, and actually just wanted to play a bit with OpenGL; we were quite sure that we would start again to write the real prototype. But we didn't start again. The program that was just able to draw a rotating cube, grew and grew, we added and added features and it slowly became what it is now. We stopped when we realized that this would become an ugly unusable and unmaintainable program.

Anyway, it serves quite well to show a slight idea of what we are thinking about. However, if we talk about the optical design, thats definitely not what we imagine. If you, for example, take a look in /dev or /usr/lib you'll see what we want to point out.

The screenshots are actually here.
